'Twas the Day Before School Starts

and ...

• most of my daughter's clothes don't fit her. Of course stores don't really have summer clothes on the rack in August. That's just too sensible.
  
• We pushed through the crowds at Office Depot and Target to get school supplies. My daughter wants everything on her list all in bright colors of course. My son turned down my offer for a new backpack. He's taking 2 sheets of paper, a pen, a pencil to start off the first day.
  
• My daughter has read a ton of books this summer but has failed to do the required summer reading project. The clock is ticking.
• I'm scared to ask my son about his reading. It appears the books were opened and moved around a little.
  
• Did I mention my son has mono? First a concussion now this. A very slow start for football but he did get the okay to begin school on time.
• Let the fun begin.
